A poem by Robert Ball II

Judas came to the garden and kissed Jesus on the cheek,
the betrayal was complete.
Judas did not put Jesus on the cross

The Pharisees and Sadducees accused Jesus with a lie,
they wished for him to die.
The Jewish leaders did not put Jesus on the cross

King Herod marveled at the man and found no fault,
he washed his hands and was not fraught.
King Herod did not put Jesus on the cross

The Jewish people were asked and yet,
Barabbas to go, Jesus to death.
The Jewish people did not put Jesus on the cross

The Roman guards spit in his face and beat him,
they delivered him.
The Roman guards did not put Jesus on the cross

A man swung a hammer hard to drive a nail,
they mocked with a king's hail, King of the Jews
I tell you, that man did not put Jesus on the cross.

Legions of angels stood ready, waiting for his word.
All prepared for a battle as never seen before.
Man would perish and vengeance would be served
God's son had a choice as he opened his mouth to speak.
As the angels strained to listen as not to miss the queue,
Jesus spoke, "Father, forgive them..."

Only Love had the power put Jesus on the cross.
