This cross is carved out of Alder wood which has beautiful veining and tint. It is a favorite wood of woodcraftsmen and is known as “Scottish Mahogany”. The Love Cross symbol appears to rise out of the wood cross background. Each cross is first roughly tooled by machine, finished with hand chisels and scrapers then sanded by hand. The finish is applied over a three day period with a special recipe of Linseed oil and beeswax. This finish has been used for generations to bring out the natural beauty of wood. Each wood cross is unique with it’s own flaws and natural beauty and is signed and numbered by the artist. |
